
Prof. Okey Ibeanu

Dr. Ibeanu is a professor of Political Science and Research Professor in Development Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He was at various times the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Dean of the Social Sciences at the University, as well as a visiting scholar at the United Nations University, Tokyo, the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars, Washington DC., and King’s College London. He also served as a National Electoral Commissioner in Nigeria and the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council on Toxic Waste and Human Rights from 2004 to 2010. Professor Ibeanu is widely published and is currently a Senior Fellow of the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), Advisor to Yiaga Africa and Election Expert in the EU Support for Democratic Governance in Nigeria.
